Conference on Cell Replacement in the Inner Ear

Overview

The 2008 International Conference on Cell Replacement in the Inner Ear will serve as a forum to stimulate research in regeneration biology of the cochlea, vestibule, and primary neural pathways. Through lectures, posters, panel discussions, and informal interactions the conference attendees will be exposed to the latest advances in regeneration research methods, both in the ear and in other systems, from investigators around the world. All potential methods to restore function will be discussed including spontaneous and induced regeneration, genetic modification, stem cells, viral vectors, growth factors and delivery systems. The conference will incorporate the latest advances in developmental biology, cell cycle regulation, genetics, and biologic tools, methods, and models.

The conference content and organization reflects the commitment of the Deafness Research Foundation to accelerate progress in biologic methods to hasten the eventual development of treatments that may reverse the effects of damage and disease in the inner ear. The conference is open to all interested scientists, clinicians, and students.

The conference is organized around six session topics (Systems Regeneration, Stem Cells, Cell Cycle Regulation, Cell Fate Regulation, New Methodologies, and Translational Issues). Each day, there will be podium presentations, discussions, and poster sessions directed toward each topic.

Hotel:
A hotel block has been reserved at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda. Please be sure to reference the conference to receive the special rate of $153 single occupancy, $178 double occupancy, $203 triple occupancy, and $228 quadruple occupancy.
